I've uploaded some of the poems/songs, for the people that are interested (you can right-click and save them). http://www.fileupyours.com/files/57493/The%20state%20of%20world%20affairs%20from%20a%203rd%20floor%20window.mp3...

Hey LukeSmith, I will re-upload them next weekend (the songs are on an other computer, so I can't do it right now).

It's indeed hard to come up with something original these days. I knew there were others who have put music over Bukowski's poems (here in Holland, someone recently put Bach music over Bukowski poems; http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1690172996277651064). Linda Lee Bukowski probably...

Try Side Effects by Woody Allen; in my opinion the Bible of absurd humour (you'll love it or hate it). Or American Psycho, Less than Zero or Laws of Attraction by Brett Easton Ellis; well-written nihilism. Or novels by Richard "Kinky' Friedman; very funny with (usually) a great plot.

Favorite Author (dead and still with us)

Anyone here familiar with novels by Richard "Kinky' Friedman? Some of his works sort of remind me of Bukowski's Pulp (e.g. the "absurd' humor, the conversations, the drinking of whiskey). Nice things.

Basically, I was asking because I was thinking about sending Linda Lee Bukowski a copy when it?s finished, and maybe ask if she?s interested in releasing it. I think (but could be wrong) that she holds most of the copyrights (or whatever it?s called) on Bukowski material, and I don?t know if she...

    When did you discover Bukowski?

Will try to get my hands on Hot Water Music (and read it, of course). Thanks for the recommendations.

Glad you liked it, HenryChinaski! Thanks for your expert opinion, SD. I definitely will experiment with mixing the music more into the background (it is indeed difficult for a musician to do that). BTW. with your experience as a recording engineer, do you know if I?m violating any copyright...

    When did you discover Bukowski?

Hot Water Music consists of short stories, doesn't it? Can you recommend it?

Hey, thanks for the compliment, number6horse. Hope your audio will be fixed soon, and that you?ll like the songs. Bukefan, it would be very cool if it could be released on cd someday. I have something like 60 minutes of material now, but I would have to mix or master it at a studio to improve...

    When did you discover Bukowski?

First Bukowski book I read was Ham on Rye (the Dutch translation, called ?Kind onder kannibalen?, which can be translated back to English as ?Child amongst cannibals?). Really liked it. After that I read Pulp, Post Office and a lot of his poems. Planning on reading his other novels soon...

Hey, Thanks for your positive responses. Bukefan, it?s true that Bukowski?s voice should perhaps be more in the foreground at times, but it could also be because of your computer-boxes or the fact that it?s mp3 format that you couldn?t hear Bukowski?s voice clearly now and then. Anyway...

    Bukowski music-project

Hello everyone, The past months I have been working on a small individual project where I have written some music to go under Bukowski?s poems. In my opinion, the music and the poems complement each other pretty good. I am interested in what you think about it, that?s the reason I?m posting...
