So we were at Los Alamitos this day, which is the quarter horses, and they used to run in the days then instead of at night, and it was a Saturday which meant it was crowded and the track wasn't totally built then - very country - they had large signs like LADIES TOILET and MENS TOILET and most of the grandstands were simple slats of running boards like one sometimes sees at overnight circuses. Quarter horses run most races at 350 yards and you're either right or wrong in something like 18 seconds. The form is usually good, though, and if you use a little sense you can make a bit of bacon and egg money if you stay away from the bars.
