THE COLDSPRING JOURNAL No. 10, April 1976

...is interesting too, many names appear in Bukowskis letters somewhere: Rod McKuen, Brown Miller, Al Fogel, Lyn Lifshin, Malanga, Blazek, J(örg) Fauser (?!), T.L. Kryss ... Aram Saroyan is the son of William Saroyan. Was wondering who Erro is, appears to be a painter from Iceland...

    Jörg Fauser

...but quite a bunch) to see if I can spot that one and post here. Also seem to remember a letter from Buk (to CW or Benno Kaesayr) asking for Fauser and how he's doing. Musta been around the mid-80s. Maybe even shortly after he died. And then there's this poem...

    Jörg Fauser

Fauser as a prose writer was great, imo. Rohstoff is one kick ass novel. I could never digest Fausers poetry. It sounds too much like a bad copy of badly translated Bukowski into German slang of the 70's. Haven't read it in a long time and not everything, tho. Maybe there are good poems too...

    Jörg Fauser

Thirty years ago today Jörg Fauser died when a truck hit him while walking on a motorway near Munich. The exact circumstances of his death are obscure. His novel Rohstoff, which has been translated into English by Jamie Bulloch as Raw Material, is now going to be filmed. Bukowski reacted to...

Marcel Reich-Ranicki, German Literary Critic From the Warsaw Ghetto, Dies at 93

...disagree with everything he said or wrote. But he always claimed that great literature should and must be entertaining, which I like. He cultivated his trademark crankiness and obviously loved himself in front of tv cameras. I always liked him. He once pissed off Jörg Fauser on stage, by...

    Interview with Carl Weissner

...Theo Green conducted the interview. Carl really gets into the interview as well. There is a lot of information in there which you do not get from other sources i.e. about all the little mags, translating, Jorg Fauser and the application of Burroughs'/Gysin cut up technique to radio shows.

Bukowski poem for Jörg Fauser - "Joe"

Moving pictures of Järg Fauser: July 16, 1944 - July 17, 1987. They remember him 20 years after he passed away.

Bukowski poem for Jörg Fauser - "Joe"

I just read they've published a biography on Fauser, (in German.) Will pick it up one day. Speaking about Germany; my girlfriend and I want to visit Andernach in march or april.

Bukowski poem for Jörg Fauser - "Joe"

I never cared for Fausers poems too much, but that's just me. His novel "Rohstoff" is great, anyhow. The most living vibrating picture of the Germany late 60's/70's/early 80`s, I've ever read. Derschau as a writer is rather minor, in comparison. Though, a fair poet.

Bukowski poem for Jörg Fauser - "Joe"

...on my machine right now and need to scan it tomorrow, then I can post it in proper size. (except one of you cats is faster.) It's Fauser (right), when he was visiting Buk (left) in 1977. I think this pic was taken at the LA-airport. We also see Linda Lee (2nd left) and Frances...

Bukowski poem for Jörg Fauser - "Joe"

Rereading Fauser it's mentioned in an afterword that after his death 1987 Bukowski wrote a poem about him. I've never read that one. Anybody know it? roni, I'm looking in your direction especially, but maybe someone else knows it too. Probably about somebody called "Joe", young German...

Roni, when Buk was in Europe there was a fan called "Son Of Bukowski". I believe there's a pic of him in "Shakespeare...", where he's wearing a Buk T-shirt. Was that Fauser?

...right. These were all cats, who were influenced by Buk much before he came well know here. Some also were friends of Carl Weissner (that's Fauser and Derschau - and it was Derschau who invited Buk for his famous reading in Germany!). David, I think Mr. Pinkgnome can name one German...

...him. It was the German scene which (at least in the beginning) enabled him to live as a writer. He really made it big here/there. Try Järg Fauser, he also interviewed B. for the German Playboy in the late 70s (it's somewhere here in the forums, I believe) and was quite a character. Also...
