    This probably sounds retarded

I can't remember the line exactly but the sentiment often comes to me if I'm getting up early or hungover for work or something: Millions of men have wondered while shaving, wouldn't the removal of life be preferable to the removal of facial hair. It's something like that. If anyone can...

Last CD you bought/ Book you read

Currently listening to Sia's new album, Some People Have Real Problems Currently reading Truman Capote's complete short stories - probably his best work I feel so far from what I've read.

    When did you discover Bukowski?

Yep, it's a general rock and metal mag. I read it religiously as an early teen. Now I look at it and kid myself into thinking it was a lot better when I was that age. It wasn't.

    Writers you've discovered through Buk

I'm reading Mooch at the moment. Dan Fante's a great writer. If anyone is interested they should get his book of short stories Corksucker (I think it might be called Short Dog in America?). Also, check out the brutalists (Ben Myers, Tony O'Neill, Adelle Stripe). They're a little group of...

I think I'll check out the letters next then. I hadn't really considered them before but if you all think they're worth it I'll have a look. In the UK they've been released on Virgin as four books with all of the letters in chronological order throughout the four. Should I go for these or the...

The People Look Like Flowers At Last

I think the cover art is great. One of the nicest looking Buk books I've seen. Perhaps this could be a new thread? What do people think is Bukowski's best cover art?

    When did you discover Bukowski?

Post Office, which I bought on a whim at the age of 15 after finding out that one of my favourite bands, hell is for heroes, had named their label imprint Factotum, after the "great anti-capitalist novel by Charles Bukowski" (Kerrang's words, not the band's).

Ok, so I'm looking for ideas as to what I should read next from Bukowski. Maybe you can help. I've read the six novels and I've read the short story collections south of no north, tales of ordinary madness, the most beautiful woman in town and hot water music. As far as poetry goes I've read...

    Hello

Hi there I'm Joe Roche. I've been reading these forums for a while now and have always enjoyed what I've read so I thought I'd join. I'm 20, originally from Cornwall in England, now in my second year at Kingston University in London, studying English lit and journalism. Like many here, I'm...
