    i believe the cat in that poem - and the other one about that incident "conversation on a telephone" - represents the coldness or cruelty humanity is capable of. i think "centuries" is meant in the same sense as saying "throughout history" but the cat is used as a metaphor.

    randy page predated Sweet Danny V by a number of decades. you must be thinking of his appearance in the "Tales From The Trailer Park" anthology.

    that's the work of randy page. his work appeared in a publication called "the toilet paper review" which was actually edited by charles bukowski. hence the confusion.
