    Gypsy Lou

Lou is in a retirement home in Slidell. She is confind to bed. The place is clean and nice. Occasionally they take in a wheelchair to dine with ohers there or to watch TV. Saw her two weeks ago and she was in good spirits. I think she is closing in on 102.

    Buk in new orleans

If in New Orleans drop into the International House Hotel. Last Friday I stopped for a drink at their bar and noticed behind the hotel's front desk a large photo of Hank. Asked the desk what that was all about and he said go up to the third floor. There Sean Cummings and an artist friend have...

Yale University library - rejection letter (1963)

Do you think Hank got an author's royalty?? I don't. Pretty funny! Thanks that's great stuff. Sadly I bought a copy of Crucifix in NYC where it was almost immediately remaindered. I believe I paid half the listed price and this was less than a year after publication. With what money he could...

Yale University library - rejection letter (1963)

Does anyone recall what Webb was selling IT CATCHES for. I'd guess 3 or 4 bucks. My deal with Webb at the time was that I'd buy 100 copies of IT CATCHES prepublication for $250. He had run out of money and needed to buy paper to finish It Catches. I had a written agreement with him that he would...

Charles Bukowski, King of the Underground

Her neighbors may not be greatest but he has 3 rooms which are clean and nicely furnished. She is taken care...

    Abel's book coming...

This is a tad off topic but when I first started collecting I was so impressed with a catalog I got in 1966 that I still have it. I wish that the sellers of today could have put the equal time and effort into Bukowski's body of work. Howard Woolmer was the dealer and it was titled A Catalogue...

BUKOWSKI 1963 - It Catches My Heart in It's Hands - w/ Original painting & poem

Seen many copies of this book. Painting no doubt is Hank's. I however have real doubts about the epigram. Hand writing seems odd.

Yale University library - rejection letter (1963)

Jon Webb gave me the letter and when I was putting out some of my scraggily House of Books catalogues in the 90s. For fun I inserted the letter and Ed Smith bought it for $30 bucks. Years later I donated the letter from James Babb who was Yale's head of the library and a real bookman who found...
