What buk piece effects you the most emotionally in a personal way?

I think I posted in this thread forever ago, but Ham On Rye is still a personal favorite, even after now reading a good bulk of his collective work. Some of the short stories from Ordinary Tales of Madness come kind of close, though. I liked the one about the old man dying.

    Reading my first Vonnegut book.

Cat's Cradle is good. So are the others. He has a certain addictive way of writing once you get past the first couple chapters or so.

So, is Bukowski against weed or what?

Sometimes, I'll see him say he hates it somewhere, sometimes I'll see him say he's okay with it, and sometimes I'll even see him say he's tried it and enjoyed it. Did he ever provide a definitive answer or was he just the right amount of drunk at different times to say different things? I...

    Spider poem?

Yeah, I'm not very good with forums or the internet in general and tend not to know how stuff works and miss very big things. Thanks for shining the light a little for me.

    Spider poem?

Also, while I'm here I guess I'll ask so I don't waste another thread. What's the main collection "Freedom" appears in? It always stuck out to me above the others for some reason.

    Spider poem?

I google'd it, and couldn't find anything, but then I typed in "spider" and it came up. "Death Wants More Death". Thanks, anyway, though. I actually really want to read that book.

    What happened to Justin Barrett?

Some of these are real nice. The rape one, in particular.
  8. Faulkner's Dick

    Hey.

Yeah, I'd like to say it's not habit-forming, but it is just a little bit. And yeah, it's nice.

    Spider poem?

I remember the first poem I read by Bukowski was on the internet and it had something to do with Bukowski killing a spider with what I think may have been a broom(?) I remember I really liked it, but that's about all. It may be popular, or it may not. Like I said, don't remember too much...

    Hey.

I thought about editing it actually after realizing I said it, but decided it didn't really matter. I have a habit of talking like that myself, because it obviously floats around the schools a lot these days. You're not the one talking in such a stupid way so I don't see why it would bother you.

Which do you prefer: Bukowski poems, short stories, or novels

Since your's was the first, I'll probably go with that one. The Books-A-Million here doesn't have shit, though, and Barnes and Noble isn't much better.
  12. Faulkner's Dick

    Hey.

Slouching Toward Nirvana. A mixed bag, but all Books-A-Million had was post-humous poetry collections for some stupid reason. The man at the counter was like, "Bukowski... Isn't he like a big fiction writer?" when I went up to purchase the book. I guess I had to upload a photo to an album...

Which do you prefer: Bukowski poems, short stories, or novels

I like his books. I don't have much money to work around, so I try to read his big bodies of work when I can, but then you get to the book store and see so many other books along the way, it's hard to stick to a plan. However, I've read as many poems as the internet will allow, and they're good...

Who's the poet/editor Bukowski refers to in "Notes..."

I read it on some big article somewhere. Something about Harold wanting to release their letters to the public to make a comeback and getting rejected. And judging by your post count and the confidence in your digital sneer, I'd say you're respected here, but I don't know you so I don't really...

    Hey.

I see you have a lot of posts, could you tell me where the thing is to edit my signature? I can't find it anywhere.
