Allen Ginsberg, Marvin Malone and the Case of the Missing Acid Test

Hey, I appreciate the nod. Happy to be on this forum in any capacity. Fire away any questions you might have about my father or Wormwood, and I'll do my best to respond.

Allen Ginsberg, Marvin Malone and the Case of the Missing Acid Test

Wormwood wasn't begun by Marvin Malone. When we moved to Storrs, CT, from Albuquerque, NM, he found issue #2 in a bookshop. If you read the bio I wrote on the official Wormwood site (wormwoodreview.com) and my father's essay about the beginning of Wormwood, the chronology becomes clear. BTW, my...

Allen Ginsberg, Marvin Malone and the Case of the Missing Acid Test

My father was always a pharmacologist. He did extensive research in several areas; taught at UNM, UConn, and the University of the Pacific; and edited several professional journals. He did Wormwood on his own, on the side, for the love of it, because he was well read and well versed in poetry...

    Complete set of The Outsider

I guess I can't take down this listing, but FYI, the Outsider run is no longer on eBay. It didn't sell at $1,200. I'm willing to consider lower offers, as I wouldn't have to pay eBay fees. Contact me directly. Thanks!

    Complete set of The Outsider

FYI, I'm listing on eBay a really nice complete set of the Outsider, which is a duplicate from my late father's collection.

    Grip The Walls Variant?

Wait, wait. While Bill is right about checking all those things for authenticity (thanks, Bill!), your issue is very plausible. I just checked the 3 remaining patron (signed) copies of #16, and they are 295, 300, and 301. Sorry, but my dad messed up. Keep in mind that WR #15 was the first issue...

    Grip The Walls Variant?

Perhaps I'm confused. I see the patron copy numbered 21 out of 24 copies. Is there a #296 mentioned somewhere?

    Grip The Walls Variant?

What you show appears to be an authentic patron copy of GRIP THE WALLS. No artwork involved (although Bukowski added artwork to many of the later Wormwood patron issues). Also, I've had questions about the authenticity of Bukowski's signature on that issue. He signed it in what I believe to be...

    Same old thing...

Yes, there was a considerable backlog of Bukowski poems accepted for Wormwood when Marvin died in 1996. Sixty-some poems, I seem to remember. I sent them all back to Linda Bukowski with a letter. No response from her. I also sent her copies of all the letters Bukowski sent to my father over the...

    Wormwood "exchange" copies

The Wormwood "exchange" copies were intended for trade with other small presses. They were the overruns from the numbered issues. There were two different stamps: "exchange" and later "xchange." Or even later, the word was sometimes written out "exchange." Or written out "exchange copy."

    Same old thing...

Actually, the Same Old Thing MAILER did not appear in Wormwood. It was a stand-alone piece using the Bukowski poem "Same Old Thing," which appeared in issue #11 of Wormwood.

Bukowski material up for auction at PBA Galleries on October 10th (and Frank Nettelbeck)

For the record, the three signed copies of Wormwood that were sold in that auction ($360, ya gotta include the premium) were NOT official patron copies of Wormwood. I don't know why PBA didn't point that out. Aside from the numbering of the issues, which should be a big clue, Bukowski signed all...
