    Hello Everyone

Can someone tell me what the Packard letter says? I take it it is pretty close to what Buk wrote to me some ten years prior. But don't worry about disenchantment--even when I got the letter I figured it was a standard kiss-off to would-be sycophants. I was still mightily pleased.

    Hello Everyone

The beauty of the letter is that beyond the terse NO VISITORS, it is actually very considerate. If Buk really wanted to blow me off, he wouldn't have answered, or he wouldn't have signed the letter. Instead, he took the time to reply, and in a way that reflects his personality and style so...

    Hello Everyone

I'm already using Father Luke's enhancement of my letter from Buk as a screensaver. If I'm wrong, someone needs to tell me! In the meantime, says I, bring on the t-shirts, or I just might make one (or more) myself.

    Hello Everyone

T-shirt designers, plaque makers, and tattoo artists, have at it. I'd love to see what you come up with. If you make thousands of dollars, be sure to donate a big chunk of it to something that honors Buk. Sorry, no plans to sell the letter anytime soon. By PeteM

Poem About Traffic and Traffic Lights

What line did you quote? "We are moving in perfect anger" I'll guess. I should be able to get to a library in the next few days with a complete set of the Pushcart anthologies, and will try to find the poem there.

    Hello Everyone

In 28 years, I showed that letter to less than ten people. Now the community of Buk lovers are suggesting it has t-shirt or even tattoo potential! I must have been hanging around the wrong crowd, lack imagination, or both. But I always knew the letter was pretty cool, and am glad to share it...

Yes, I still have the letter. When I get a chance I'll scan it or take a picture of it and post it.

Poem About Traffic and Traffic Lights

Digney: Thanks, great poems, but once again I don't think they are the ones I'm looking for. The poem I remember didn't have such an aggressive, competitive edge. It was more meditative--the changing lights measured the passing of time, or some such thing. Obviously my memory is a little...

Poem About Traffic and Traffic Lights

Hank--thanks for the lead, but that's not the poem I remember. Hopefully someone else can help out.

    Hello Everyone

I've been a Bukowski fan since the late 70s. Circa 1980 I wrote a letter to him asking if I could visit. His reply back was classic: "Dear Sir: No visitors. [Signed] Buk."

Poem About Traffic and Traffic Lights

Hello everyone. I'm trying to find a Bukowski poem I read in the early '90s, I think in a "Best American Poetry" type anthology. Like my thread title states, the central image was traffic and traffic lights. Any help is appreciated.
