    The Bukowski Richmond Letters

Great letter. Someday, there ought to be a book of the Bukowski-Richmond letters. It's good to read even one of them.

    Guerilla Poetics Project

I still have a few GPP broadsides that I need to hide somewhere. Maybe a trip to the library is in order.

    Sheri Martinelli Art

A couple paintings by Sheri Martinelli (co-author of Beerspit Night and Cursing) for sale on eBay. I have no financial interest in these -- just thought folks here might like seeing them...

Where I really saw disdain for Bukowski was at college. Most of the English professors as well as students had a very low opinion of his work. They dismissed him as a crude drunk who wrote bad poems about beer and whores. However, whenever he did a reading on campus, the room was always packed...

Who is stealing all the Bukowski and Kerouac novels?

Strangely, copies of the Bible are often stolen from bookstores.

Interesting story, Atomic Bomb. I experienced both situations in those days. Bookstore employees who considered Bukowski trash, and shops that stocked him in depth. But I'm not jumping into that fray. Rather, I want to weigh in on your comment "I may be misremembering this, but it seemed to [me]...

    WRITE magazine

It's amazing good luck that Darger's landlord just happened to be an artist with an eye for genius. Any other landlord would have hauled his junk to the dumpster after he went into a nursing home. As it is, Darger's writings, paintings, source materials, and personal effects were saved...

    WRITE magazine

That's how I read it: 7 or 8 copies per issue. One or two examples may have survived, or not. Having the editor's names is a huge help in searching for it, but still, finding copies would be incredibly lucky. Isaac Henry Burnjohn is listed here with two stories published in 1944 & 1945, one of...

    WRITE magazine

Any news on this front? The scary thing is that a copy of the issue of Write magazine with Bukowski's contribution could be in a library archive somewhere, and get trashed. Libraries are dumping printed material at an alarming rate. Something as ephemeral as an obscure magazine for amateur...

    Personal Bukowski Collection

Roni, you're right. Her shop doesn't discount new books, so there is no doubt a lot of "showrooming" going on, with customers seeing books they want in the store, taking a photo of the cover with their phone, and then buying it cheaper on-line. The stream of new titles from big publishers...

    Personal Bukowski Collection

My wife works in a bookstore and tells me that very seldom does anyone come in and ask for Bukowski any more. Apparently, he's not as popular as he was a few years ago.

    Harry Calhoun has passed away.

I read somewhere on Facebook that he had stroke-like symptoms earlier this year but then recovered. He was far too young to go this way.

    Death of Poet Al Masarik

Thanks for the info, Bill. I don't think I had any dealings with him, but I may have. I read a lot of his stuff long ago and it was good. I was kind of surprised by how little I found Googling him. Thanks for the drawing, Digney in Burnaby.
