graphic art for issue #3.

Yep. If you look in enough places around the web, you'll find lots
of 'em...writers that don't know the difference between being
influenced by someone, and just flat out copying someone.
Same thing applies to the beat wannabes.

"beautiful things can be terrible and
terrible things can be beautiful"
--Charles Bukowski, from "out of the dark"
Cause & Effect Magazine is currently accepting submissions
of poetry, short stories, and flash fiction. Preference leans
towards gutsy, edgy work...not looking for Bukowski clones,
but the editor is a Buk enthusiast.
Submissions of graphic art (photos or drawings) are being
accepted, too...
I realize that I'm posting this late in the game,
but I wanted to add my list of "best Buk books"
to check out (in no particular order):
~ Love is a Dog from Hell
~ Sifting Through the Madness
~ Burning in Water, Drowning in Flame
~ Betting on the Muse
~ The Roominghouse...
In "NIGHT STREETS OF MADNESS" from Tales of Ordinary Madness,
Buk spoke of someone being "influenced by the Bukowski myth" and
then said "I am really a coward."
I think that people read too much into Buk's writing. While many
of his works may have been inspired by real life events...
In What Matters Most is How Well You Walk Through the Fire,
Buk mentions Ginsberg in the poem "4 Christs," but refers to him
as Ginsbing. There's a part where someone unnamed tells Hank
that "Ginsbing says he doesn't know how to relate to you."
One of the poetry groups that I'm involved in is having
a Bukowski tribute reading tonite. We'll be reading from
his works, then we'll read our own...it's an open mic, and
there's no cover charge.
If any of you are in the Dallas area, you're welcome to
come out and participate. You can...
