Was Bukowski a well read man?

A good writer reads. A good film director watches films. A good football coach watches football. Seems pretty obvious to me.

    Dirty, vulgar poem

Looking very much forward to that - that and the (un)revised posthumous editions... Hope the Butcher is still alive when it happens.:amb: PS: We can also add an international front to this. Buk is more appreciated in Europe than in the US. I'm sure a major mag will be interested in an article...

    Dirty, vulgar poem

The change in the title alone proves, without a doubt, that John the Butcher had no idea where Buk was coming from. "dirty poem" changed to "vulgar poem"? Talk about de-balling a poem from the very start! The Butcher couldn't carry Buk's balls in a paper bag... thats for sure

The Marvin Malone Collection of Small Mags

The pdf-file worked like a charm for me. I immediately scrolled down to see if I could find "Write" magazine, but only found "Writ" & "Writing". Darn close though... ;-)

    John Martin

I have never met Mr. Martin, nor corresponded with him in any way, and thus have absolutely no basis for forming an opinion of him.He will always be appreciated for helping Buk get into print thru the beautiful books of Black Sparrow Press. No doubt about that. But... As for his "actions" as...

    Buk's last poem?

What do you make of this then? (Since it was run directly off the fax machine I guess it wasn't butchered by the butcher...)

The Days Run Away... and Mockingbird Wish Me Luck...

I love that line Josh, and I'm sure Buk would have appreciated it too. Buk helped me to rediscover the power of poetry - and that it doesn't haven to be wishy washy... Now I've gotta get back to my whale steak. Foop the whales!

I wonder - does Linda or Marina know about the extent of these Martinisms? Maybe "John the Butcher" was inspired by Raymond Carver's editor...
