African Underground: Democracy in Dakar Saw this documentary last week. Its all about the Hip-Hop scene in Senegal. Made me think of reggae & Kingston & Jamaica. Not that I know that much about reggae & Kingston & Jamaica. Plenty of good music there though. Its interesting when one music-form...

I like the Bone books. Sort of a cross between the Marx Bros. & Tolkien. Jeff Smith has a clean line with a simple naivistic touch.

Hamsun's Hunger: Just saw the Danish/Swedish/Norwegian co-production of Hunger from 1966. Its been re-released on DVD recently. This has to be one of the best film-adaptions of a novel I have ever seen. Its also one of the best B&W movies I've ever seen. Wonder IF Buk ever saw it - living in LA...

An acquaintance here in Norway wants to sell the two books mentioned in the title of this thread. It seems he found them in the student bookshop here in Norway back when they first were published. Didn't know that Black Sparrow sent out numbered & signed editions to shops. Maybe they just did it...

I saw Dennis Potter's TV-play "Brimstone and Treacle" on DVD last night. Frightening & fascinating stuff. This film was so controversial in its day that it was banned by the BBC for 11 years. It starts out with a quote from Kierkegaard that sounds like something right out of the Bukowski Tapes...

The literature-industry, like the music-industry, was already fucked up before MP3s, iPods & Kindles came around. I think they both need a shake-up. I'm all for it. The film-industry is also set for a fall. As for literature without books & paper: maybe paper has dominated the scene too long...
