Linda King Book Release Party at Beat Museum

Honestly, it's absolutely brilliant even if out of context this sounds daft. Read it.

The eternal answer being... I don't know. I got a woman and a radio. Well, an iPod but it's 2008.

Linda King Book Release Party at Beat Museum

This just arrived, nice little production. The colour art throughout looks great, plus I paid for a regular copy and got a signed one, which is good. Now...when will "Loving and Hating Charles Bukowski" be out?

    Richard Dawkins

I see where you're coming from. The thing is, these things need to be said. It's important to look at things logically and not let those who believe in angels/spiritual healing/organised religion be treated as if their arguments hold weight. This is particularly true in the US where a lot of...

    Off Topic: The Forum Interface

Just a quick question, is there a way in this forum to view a list of threads in which you have written a message? (To view replies etc) Can't find it if it's there for some reason... It's on the other couple of forums I am a member of. Thanks, G.

The Charles Bukowski Tapes 2006 DVD

hank solo, thanks for the link. I am aware of this site but unfortunately my (cheap Spanish) player isn't listed, and I've switched my laptop's region code so many times that if I do it again, it'll be stuck. Possibly time to buy a cheap region-free recorder from a good old fashioned store. G.

The Charles Bukowski Tapes 2006 DVD

Any sign of a region 2 version of this? Never seen it, keep looking in eBay, can only find region 1. I bought a new region free DVD recorder recently via eBay but had to send it back to fradulent seller, so don't really want to buy another. G.

    You Kissed Lilly

Thanks, pity. Ecco could make a few quid re-releasing any small publications that haven't seen the light of day, along the lines of "There's No Business" and "Bring me Your Love". It would give them something else to do after exhausting his pile of posthumous paper. G.

    You Kissed Lilly

On the new ecco editions, the list of Buk's books has been reduced, but includes "You Kissed Lilly" (1978). According to the book this is available from ecco, but I can't find it. What is it and is it available? Thanks, G.

Another 'Lets get to know each other' thread!

Speaking of badly written signs, this website is quite amusing: http://www.engrish.com/category_index.php?category=Signs/Posters Graham.

The Best Hotel On Skid Row

In an interview with Mary Ann Swissler in 1990 (Sunlight Here I Am, p258-9), there is mention of a HBO documentray called "The Best Hotel On Skid Row" which Bukowski narrated. Apparently it was also screened at Cannes. It's listed on IMDB. Has anyone seen this? Is it still available anywhere...

Another 'Lets get to know each other' thread!

I haven't read the other book, and I don't know much about Truss appart from Eats Shoots. I think there has to be a difference, however, between creative writing and journalistic or sign writing. Bad grammar in newspapers and on signs (designed by people who design signs as a career) is lazy...

Another 'Lets get to know each other' thread!

Yep it's CDs ont CD's. There's a big sign on the way into my local supermarket advertising "CD's, DVD's and Books". It's really annoying, there are two very large and unnecessary apostrophes on the wall and I want to rip them off. There's a big car dealership down the road that offers, in thee...

Another 'Lets get to know each other' thread!

I work in the music industry, and manage a small recording studio. I make and play electronic music at small gigs around Dublin, and work part time behind various bars because the music industry doesn't pay very well... have a lot of books and a lot of CDs (I hate when people write is "CD's")...

    Desert Island Dozen

I'm interested in asking, specifically because this isn't a music-based discussion board, what would your desert island dozen albums be? (We can do desert island books later). What do you like to listen to? My rough dozen, in no order, off the top my my head go something like this...

    Ecco Ecco Ecco

Be glad you don't live in IRL/UK, where the main publishers of Bukowski are Virgin. Their editions are very cheap compared the the BS or ECCO ones. And they give them stupid titles like "New Poems Book One". Sometimes they split one healthy collection over two books so you spend more. And they...

    Factotum second time around

I'm not exactly a film guru, but I watch a lot of movies and I know what I like. Just saw Factotum again last night, and I still think it's a very good movie. It came across as possibly more European in style than Barfly. It's slow, there's a lot of long scenes where little actually happens...

    Books about Bukowski

I found the Cherkvoski bio difficult to read too, very dry. The Sounes one is much better. G.
