OK - Just for the hell of it and because Rebecca dared me to follow up on the WHAT I'M HAVING FOR DINNER post...

If you were facing execution and could request one final meal, what would it be ? (Yeah this is a totally stupid thread which is why it will succeed :))

As for me, I would want an Italian sub sandwich made with a certain type of sourdough bread from my childhood town. Not the greatest Italian restaurant the town had ever seen, but the most popular. The toppings of thier sandwiches could be whatever, but that particular bread they served was the best I ever had or will have. I could go to prison on bread and water if the bread were this bread. A traditional baguette of sweetened sourdough, it was delicious. This bread was the geatest bread in the history of bread. If Jesus had 2 loaves of this, he never would have left the house. I could go on and on, but there you have it....

There is not something like a "last meal" over here, only ridiculous documentaries on tv
about men or women who are wearing orange clothes.

I eat organic sourdough bread every day.

Thank you, Rebecca. This thread won't make sense to people who live in countries that don't have a death penalty. Then you have to be sentenced to death for some crime, so I would pretty much have to be a criminal to make a request for a last meal.
That would be:
Broiled Monk fish
Fresh asparagus
Feash lemon wedges
Sour dough bread (like they make in western Turkey by the Marmara Sea.)
Butter
Fresh strawberries with whipped cream
a bottle of white wine
a bottle of Balveney Scotch (any kind they make would be fine.)

Great point! if I was having a last meal I would be a convicted killer. That might make me have more of a taste for red meat and burbon or rum.
;)

I'd love a steak with cheddar cheese mashed potatoes from some great restaurant in Foxwoods Casino in CT. For dessert... If I got one, I'd probably go with some Cold Stone ice cream. Yup, that'd be delicious.

Of course, if I wanted to really to get some revenge on the people executing me... Probably a giant burrito from one of the local taquerias here in Portland with the HOTTEST salsa imaginable. That'd be great.

Other than maybe one really good, really cold beer, I think I'd like to die with an empty stomach.

The thought of all that food sitting semi-digested while I start to decay!

No thanks.

That's right, ROC! Let's decay with a modicum a decorum, as true gentlemen...:D

well, I plan on being cremated, so I'll make sure I'm full of something highly flammable, to give off a good flame...(like that will be a problem).

Good point. I hadn't thought of that.

That's an interesting take. Let's see : I'd start off with a couple bowls of Fiber One breakfast cereal, followed by a can of refried beans, a pound of asparagus, and lots of beer. Dessert ? Why, chocolate-flavored Ex-Lax, of course.

Without a shadow of a doubt, pussy.

An excellent menu selection under any circumstances.

Wienerschnitzel fried golden brown
Lemon wedges
Warm German potato salad
Fresh brotchen rolls with butter

(I'm German-Irish, so there you go)

right, I forgot this was a death row last supper thread.
my mistake. canadians don't do it that differently, sometimes we just don't pay attention.
but we don't have the death penalty, so maybe the government will let me set myself on fire to atone for my sins.
or something.

i just started eating sushi within the last year. i'm not sure what took me so long to try it, probably because we just recently started getting half decent sushi houses here in Halifax. love it.
and wine is always a good idea.

I don't know about halifax but here it is can be expensive. For 2, 40 bucks, no wine. That is if you want to eat enough.
If you dig eating sushi everyday, like me, you can always learn to make your own. But then again it will probably cost you 100. just to get started .
i just pay the man...

next time the wife and I are in montreal (one of my favourite cities) you can show us some proper sushi. my treat, of course.

Hey this is a Chef's favorite, after work having a beer, game! I play this all the time!

I would either have Thai Basil rolls and Coconut soup or Chana Massala, Tandoori Chicken and Garlic Naan bread with a side of Saffron rice, I never can decide between the two.

I'd assume I'm being executed for murder so for my last meal I would like to devour the flesh of my victim and drink their blood.

Either that or cheese enchiladas.

After I wrote it and could no longer edit it, I thought twice about writing it. Kinda crude typed out, but, it was the 1st thing that came to mind.

Buzz, You are here. There is nothing crude about a dying man making any request, especially that one. Great choice, I didn't have the stones to post it.

But you have to put whipped cream or something on it to make it a meal.

Oh please! Are you going to tell me you eat warm sushi? Or the other way cold pussy? No wonder your stickpin is purple.

I suppose that given the choice, I'd opt for the cold pussy. Well, perhaps luke warm (no offense, Father Luke). Kinda like on Family Guy where they pose the question whether you'd rather screw Queen Latifah or Halle Berry, but she's been dead for six hours. I'd take Halle Berry everytime.

my the turn that this thread has taken....

Sushi rocks. Even in NASCAR-loving Dover we get OK sushi. Still, nothing like Northern Virginia. The upper middle class folks there LOVED it and there were dozens of decent places within 15 miles. $8 for all you can eat sushi lunch. Really it could not be beat.

No offense taken. And to show my heart is in the
right place, I'll eat pussy hot or cold.

I just remembered something from the Steve Dahl radio show here in Chicago, where he was trying to put together a cookbook/recipe book that consisted entirely of actual Last Meals requested by death-row inmates. This was several years ago and I don't know if he ever pulled it off.

I do recall him talking about one of the most delicious-but-unhealthy foods I ever heard of called Scotch Eggs. Anyone heard of this one ? It involves a hard-boiled egg, battered and deep-fried, then covered in syrup (maybe more ingredients were involved).....Hey - if you don't have any long-term health concerns....:)

Scotch eggs deep fried. I've not heard of that before. Usually with a scotch egg you have the boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat, then covered in breadcrumbs. They taste better heated though you can eat also them cool as a packed lunch / picnic snack. They fit under the sausage roll, meat slice envelope of food, the kinda thing you get from a bakery.

Scotch Eggs can be deep fried. They used to serve them as part of a school meal when I was in primary school (about 7 or 8 years old). They were delicious, crispy on the outside. As far as I know, such wholesome food isn't served in schools today - my kids have never had them like that as school. Occasionally buy them at the deli counter in the supermarket, but I've never tried to fry them myself.
