A question I need help with...re Bluebird (1 Viewer)

Hello to all you fellow Bukowski fans.

I am a singer/songwriter residing in Nashville, TN..and I put music to the Bukowski poem 'Bluebird' a few years ago and recorded a version with my band just for fun. Thing is, I really, really love it and want to put it on my next album. This would be technically a "derivative work" and I would need permission from the rights holder. Best I can tell that is now Harper Collins for the book of poems that Bluebird was published in. I don't know if they have the right to allow a derivative work or not. I got one reply a year ago to contact someone else, and since then nothing.

Anyone have any ideas?
