Like go to India,
visit the dentist (etc.).

What poem is it where he lists all these trivial (and some popularly aspired to do) things that he doesn't ever care to do ?,
(not sure if either of the 2 above are included, but close, methinks)
it's been driving me crazy for around a month +.
Lately just feeling the same way he's lamenting here...
and would love to read it in full.

Can't remember the name of the poem, or the book I read it in
(or even which page, right or left, and I'm always good at that for some reason).

Seems like I remember hearing him read it aloud too
(CD or DVD)
but then I read all his poetry aloud in my head,
(yeah, oxy-moron)
so I could be totally off there.
Ok, thanks,
and please,
someone nail it for me.

that sounds like the bit from Barfly...

This is a world where everybody's gotta do something. Ya know, somebody laid down this rule that everybody's gotta do something, they gotta be something. You know, a dentist, a glider pilot, a narc, a janitor, a preacher, all that . . . Sometimes I just get tired of thinking of all the things that I don't wanna do. All the things that I don't wanna be. Places I don't wanna go, like India, like getting my teeth cleaned. Save the whale, all that, I don't understand that . . .

he probably wrote a poem like it, also, but I can't place it.
