LickTheStar
Sad Flower in the Sand
I just wanted to bring this spectacular book to all of your collective attention because I feel there is a lot to like, especially for people who seem to enjoy the same things I do.
Originally published in German as Scherbenpark, Alina Bronsky's first book is available in English through Europa Editions, who have been quietly publishing beautiful literary books translated into English (the most popular being The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery).
Trying not to give away too much of the plot, Broken Glass Park is the story of 17 year old Sascha, from a Russian family, but living in Germany. The characterization, dialogue, and prose are all fucking brilliant and it kills me that I'm too tired to do more than pimp it a bit here. I'd rather keep reading, but... sleep, work... Check it out though, you may just enjoy it.
