I know that there have been threads that mention how Buk felt about John Fante, but I've recently read several poems in this vein (as well as the well-documented short story I Meet the Master), so here's what I have all in one place:

I've found another one: Final Word (circa 1990 - see Septuagenarian Stew, pg 175). Fante isn't mentioned, but it's got to be about him. This is not the same poem as The Final Word (The People Look Like Flowers at Last).

This Massachusetts dead beat says he's a dead head, but doesn't like the song Half Step even though the Boston Garden shows in the 70s were so good even Rain Man would get it...


At the same time, he's a veteran and I love his anger
