I saw DEVO in 1979 under a cold, wet tent at the University of Minnesota. Only they weren't DEVO, they were billed as DOVE, doing a Christian soft-rock band parody/thing, with Mothersbaugh tearing the pages out of a bible he was waving around and dropping them onto the good, God-fearing midwesterners up front.
You could always count on them to deliver the unexpected.
