Hey Guys, hello one and all, i'm hoping somebody here can help me...

I recall a poem Bukowski wrote in regards to an ex of some sort who had died and he was reflecting over the relationship in front of a dresser or mirror of some sort...it was really powerful and for the life of me can't remember where i read it or the title...for some reason i do recall a line near the end that mentioned 'in 14 years'...

This has been hanging over me for ages so i thought i'd ask...

In the poem 'The Twins' Bukowski reflects on the passing of his father while wearing one of his old suits and looking in a mirror - perhaps this is it?

Also, there are a fair few poems written for and about Jane which dwell on Bukowski's lasting grief after she died. In one of these, 'remains' (The Days Run Away Like Wild Horses Over the Hills) he says

it took 14 years to know her...
...
...but give me 14 days or 14 years,
I will kill any man
who would touch or take
whatever's left.

Rubbish! Bukowski never wrote about these things. :eek:

You are right: It was a trick question. All of his poems were sonnets and everyone knows that he never drank....

p.s. Here's another: There is a poem about a woman named "Jane". I don't remember what it was about, but I know that the name Jane was in it. Any idea of that poem?

I think you're referring to the poem, The Strongest Of The Strange! Buk reads it at the Uncensored CD's and it's in Septuagenarian Stew page 202.
