Just finished this novel for the first time, and I was savoring every page. I think this is Hank's best novel. I'm not sure why I waited so long to read it, but it was a joy, especially after the first couple of chapters (which require a good bit of name remembering). Part of the fun of Hollywood was cross-referencing the names in the book with the real-world names and situations--and particularly researching the "minor" characters.

I started Pulp hoping to find more of the same, but I didn't. It's clearly a different read.

Right now, though, Hollywood and The Captain Is Out are my two favorite books of prose by the Buk.
