is there a greater conspiracy at work here? (1 Viewer)

hello.

long time reader,first time poster.

does anyone know the name of this poem:

is there a greater
conspiracy at work here?
alone right now
at this machine
typing out the mundane
moments of the day
illuminating words and ideas
in short
uneducated
scribbles
have they taught me anything?
have they taught anyone else anything?
endless strings
of stories pass by each other
in endless strings
of wasted chances
and I watch them play out
in small glimpses
as each path crosses another
path crosses
another path
until everything is connected
again.
and I'm left without any
real ways to communicate
the big picture
because it's so fucking big sometimes
that it becomes easier to remind
everyone that the small stories
and little moments
are bigger than we think
like the feel of this wine glass in my hand
right now
and the humid air coming in through the window
with the cats rubbing against the night
seeing everything
and nothing at all
just like most of us did today.

found it on the web some time ago, but now I can't find
it anymore. I have looked through most of his books and
also checked the DB, but so far unsuccessfully.

anyone? thanks in advance.[/quote]

bump.

never found out about this one. still hoping it's gonna turn
up in the manuscripts section someday. but now I have some
further questions:

does anyone know where these poems appeared? they don't
show up in "search poems".

'the glory days'
first line:
the dead rivers run backwards into nowhere...

'goodbye'
first line:
everybody thinks about dying now and then...

'bar'
first line:
I sat in that bar for so long that...

anyone?

Pass, pass & pass. Sorry. Where did you see them?

If our resident savant does not know about them, they very well may not exist.

My guess is that you ran into a website that had a "bukowski poetry contest" and that those are poems in the style of Bukowski by other people...

Agreed.

The first one does not sound at all like Bukowski to me. Not in sentiment or style.

don't remember anymore where I found them. they weren't posted as "poetry contest" stuff, that's for sure, cause then I wouldn't have kept them. but I might agree that the first one could be a rip-off. something about the last lines just sounds so much like him. but of course it is possible to write in his style, usually people just don't come so close.

I am 100% certain that the poem 'bar' was written by him. if not, this person should be making a living off of writing as (well as) him.

it is also interesting that the poem 'goodbye' has the word 'mewking' in it, as this word caused a few questions some time ago in another thread about another poem

Capt.co,
You seem to know your stuff, so maybe it was someone posting poems that they said are by Bukowski. It is probably much easier to write a fake Bukowski poem if it is about beer or whores. We have a couple members here with awe-inspiring recall of poems. If it is not in the database and they do not know about them they are either fakes or are completely unknown. I'd put my money on them being fakes, but hope that they are just undiscovered!

I'll bet $1000 right now that wonderful art in the first post isn't Bukowski.

Seriously?

Not a chance in hell.
