He loved literature, knew how to play the media and of course it was popular to disagree with everything he said or wrote. But he always claimed that great literature should and must be entertaining, which I like. He cultivated his trademark crankiness and obviously loved himself in front of tv cameras. I always liked him.
He once pissed off Jörg Fauser on stage, by the way.
