Marcel Reich-Ranicki, German Literary Critic From the Warsaw Ghetto, Dies at 93 (1 Viewer)

and even though his oppinions were often stupid, he used to be always entertaining.

Some 20 years ago, he signed me one of his books, when he was in Bamberg.

He loved literature, knew how to play the media and of course it was popular to disagree with everything he said or wrote. But he always claimed that great literature should and must be entertaining, which I like. He cultivated his trademark crankiness and obviously loved himself in front of tv cameras. I always liked him.

He once pissed off Jörg Fauser on stage, by the way.
