just finished watching this. excellent, understated film. very fine performances all around, especially by Ivan Dixon, Julius Harris and Abbey Lincoln.

Abbey Lincoln did some pretty good acting on top of being a fine jazz singer. Very nice person too - I spoke with her for about five minutes after a show she did in Cambridge, MA about 15 years ago. There was a certain genuine warmth about her.

And Ivan Dixon was in Hogan's Heroes, so two thumbs up.
