open letter to self-published author (1 Viewer)

Don't know about books for children these days, though it sounds as if there are quite a number, and the self-published appear to find it hard to get a fair shake. Although that problem is not unique to children's books - it seems "self-published" is still viewed as a dirty term in many ways. I have an acquaintance (who rightly or wrongly) will not utter the words self-published...he calls it vanity publishing. I do not agree with such sentiments across the board, though I'm sure there is some validity to the claim by the author of this posted article that there is a lot of terrible "self-published" writing out there. But there is also a lot of awful writing released by the publishing houses each year, so in some respects it seems like a case of selective prosecution, you know?
