is I guess what brought me here. And that I somehow found myself at a poetry reading with one of Bukowski's ex-wives when I was like ten.

Since then, his writing and who he was has been an endless source of inspiration.

No, but I thought maybe that's who he meant. But he could mean Francis Smith. Or -- is it possible? -- Barbara Frye.

Oh, it was Francis Smith. It was a poetry workshop at Beyond Baroque in Venice, CA. I think she had a nick name as the bearded lady. I ended up reading one of my poems, they seemed to like it (bear in mind I was around ten).
