Interesting article about J.D. Salinger's war years, and a little detail about Burnett that I was unaware of until I read this...

Oh, it's from the February Vanity Fair.
I am an unapologetic fan of Salinger, and Catcher. I hope much of the unpublished writing that was supposedly done over the years someday sees print. Also very cool to see another small connection to Bukowski via Burnett. A guy who saw the talent in both Salinger & Bukowski long before the rest--he clearly had a pretty sharp eye.
Burnett did exactly the same thing with B. B. sent Burnett lots of stories, and Burnett tried to talk B. into writing a novel...
