The mystery of Jane C. Cooney (Baker)

Petey's next career should be Detective First Class of the Forensic Records Division. He'll be the lead of a crack team of experts who can find dirt on anybody, anywhere, any time. But, his team can also be used for good to un-earth important facts to aid in research for the benefit of mankind.

    Bukowski Longwood house for sale

Pogue Mahone just caused me to bust out loud laughing like he done so many times before. If Philly Dave brings the cheesesteaks then I'll bring the soft pretzels and Tastykakes.

The mystery of Jane C. Cooney (Baker)

God Almighty! I have said this in the past but I will say it again. This website is ridiculous. The level of research and thoroughness is mind boggling. All of this info on Jane is incredible. Hats off to Petey and of course mjp. I am speechless. I am in awe. You guys are killing me over here.

    What Are You Reading?

Last but not least is another Bukowski recommendation "Bow Down to Wood and Stone." This is an incredibly cool title. I love it...Bow Down to Wood and Stone. Hank recommended this book to Sherri Martinelli in the book "Beer Spit Night and Cursing." He kept telling her over and over again to read...

    What Are You Reading?

I also read Carson McCuller's "Reflections in a Golden Eye." Cool title. It wasn't superb but Buk told me to read it in an round-about way and so I read it. I also read a Neil Peart's book, "Clockwork Lives." For those of you who may perhaps live in a cave, Neil is the best drummer ever. He is...

    What Are You Reading?

Let's switch things up here. I read "in the service of 11:11" because I'm one of those weird New Age people. This is the 2nd of the 11:11 books I have read. Call me weird...I don't care. I also read "The Kindness Diaries" because me Mum sent it to me and she wanted me to read it. I'll do...

    What Are You Reading?

My main man Bukowski loved Carson McCullers so I had to read some of her stuff in order to honor himself. There is a RUSH lyric, "The heart is a lonely hunter on the dangerous frontier." I had a double motivation to read this book as a result since I love RUSH tremendously. I can see why Buk...

    What Are You Reading?

The next Buk recommendation was J.D. Salinger's "Nine Stories." Buk raved about this. This was also fantastic. As I read each story I started to realize that I had read this before, probably while going to my local community college between 1980 and 1983 where I earned an Associate Degree in...

    What Are You Reading?

It's been a while since I've been here and I would like to post a few comments. I have been fairly busy trying to read Buk recommendations. The first one is "To Kill a Mockingbird." It was fantastic. Then I rented the movie. It was also grand. I remember seeing it as a kid as they played it over...

    Bukowski Longwood house for sale

If I were to win 50,000 or 100,000 dollars in the lottery I would gladly stay there for a few nights.

    Bukowski a misogynist?

Young lad. Read "Ham on Rye" and really try (try) to put yourself in his shoes. I for one was never hit by my father. My Mom was the enforcer. I got slapped when I did something wrong. I learned to avoid doing un-kind things. He got the crap beat out of him on a almost daily basis. We have to...

    SuperVan

I tried to get a copy of Super Van to watch from Netflix. No luck. It's very, very not available. I may have to try to find a copy on EBay. I've still got my VHS player so I'm ready to go. Go to see your still around Philly Dave.

5124 De Longpre - new photos

Glad to see that the local politicians followed through on their promise to make his DeLongpre address a cultural landmark. Why would the sign not be there for long? It will stand for 1,000 years. It will stand through the centuries. This is Bukowski we're talking about here.

    What Are You Reading?

Just finished Celine's "journey to the end of the night." Super Fantastic. I did find a lot things that influenced some of Buk's ideas. I have a ton of them notated in the book but don't have the energy to copy them all down into a thread. I can see why Buk liked this book so much. This book is...
