I've scanned my copy of "Charles Bukowski & Alpha Beat Press" (Alpha Beat Press, 1994) — the chapbook gathering Bukowski's appearances in Dave & Ana Christy's Alpha Beat Press magazines (Alpha Beat Soup, Cokefish, Bouillabaisse) across 1988–1994. It collects 18 poems, and a good number of them are hard to find anywhere else.
Uncollected: 9 poems. Never gathered into a BSP book; these small-press appearances are the source:
- "Non-Walking Papers" (#2188) and "White!" (#3954) — Alpha Beat Soup #3
- "No Gain, No Loss" (#2155) and "In A Room" (#1665) — Alpha Beat Soup #4
- "This Whore Which Fucks Us As The Calla Lillies Weave In Some September Sun" (#3690) and "The Ponderous Actuality" (#3413) — Alpha Beat Soup #7
- "Short Poem" (#2683) — Cokefish
- "The Jetliners Vomit The Eyeless Through Space" (#3229) — Bouillabaisse #1
- "The Lost And The Lonely" (#3283) — Bouillabaisse #2
Collected only in a posthumous Martin edition: 4 poems. This printing predates the edited versions by roughly a decade, so it's an earlier, pre-Martin source for each:
- "I Dreamt" (#1563), otherwise only in Come On In! (2006). The Alpha Beat Soup #6 (1989) appearance is a clean source.
- "Picture This" (#2417), otherwise only available in The Flash of Lightning Behind the Mountain (2004). No magazine appearance is on record at all (but there is a 1991 manuscript).
- "Open Here" (#2342), appears in Slouching Toward Nirvana (2005). Also in Bouillabaisse #2 and a 1991 manuscript.
- "The Road To Hell Is Paved With Yammering Once-Geniuses" (#3453), otherwise only The Flash of Lightning Behind the Mountain (2004). Also in Bouillabaisse #3.
Already in lifetime books: — 5 poems (listed for completeness):
- "Duck And Forget It" (#1100) and "Oh, I Was A Ladies Man!" (#2256) — The Last Night of the Earth Poems (1992)
- "The Beggars" (#2964) — The Last Night of the Earth Poems (1992)
- "Style" (#2846) — Mockingbird Wish Me Luck (1972)
- "A Report Upon The Consumption Of Myself" (#399) — The Roominghouse Madrigals (1988) / Crucifix in a Deathhand (1965)
