Officials say drugs may have played a part
Good Evening Fellow Sub Normals,
It's not often we get an uncollected short story around here, so I hope you can appreciate the effort (and $). Plus, we also get one of those somewhat-early Buk autobiographies.

I checked with David and this one will not be in his forthcoming Mathematics collection. He seemed to think this might have been part of a novel-in-progress. If anyone has more details, this thread will benefit. In the meantime, read on and enjoy... and remember that I am not a complete ass, some of the time...

It doesn't read that way to me, but what do I know.

Bukowski did start a novel in 1971, tentatively titled, The Poet, but I don't see how that fits with this. This feels very "stand-alone" to me.

Can someone move the thread? Thanks for the corrections, gents. Did it have a title in either appearances?

That's what's tricky about some of these. I need to re-read the City Lights books. I had to give them a 5 year break because I had read them too much. Thanks again...
