Just read Factotum again, then found this forum

First, I'm always excited when I find an old-fashioned web forum that's still active. Even more excited when it's one devoted to a dead writer.

I loved Chuck in my 20s. Now, as a recently unemployed (former?) software engineer in my early 40's (41 next month), his work resonates again. I sped through Factotum in bed over the weekend, and hung a printed copy of Roll The Dice on a corkboard collage in my bedroom. I'm two-thirds through the draft of my first novel, and whether it's a midlife crisis or something more substantial remains to be seen.

Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Lots of Buk interest still, things being published about him. Only this morning got a package from Kazuki Hirota in Japan who has published a neat & big perfect bound book on the Griffith/Bukowski thing in 1958, where Griffith kept Buk waiting for over two years before it got published. It's mostly in Japanese but with English summaries. Neat photos [colour]. A lovely thing. & last week I put out the fourth of the Beat Scene Back Pages digital edition. 90 pages - with 25 of those pages Bukowski. If anyone wants to contact Kazuki let me know at [email protected] - he plans to do an English language edition and more Buk. He writes perfect English.
