Long Shot Vol. 4 (1986) arrived — and like Vol. 3, it isn't in the bukowskidb database yet, so this adds a missing issue. The Bukowski contribution runs pp. 105–112: four poems and a letter. None of the poems has a magazine appearance on record, so this is the first source logged for them.
The poem worth flagging — "Alphabet Of An Alcoholic" (db #4832, written 1986):
Uncollected — never gathered into a book. There's a manuscript dated 9 Jan 1986, but no publication was on record, so Long Shot Vol. 4 is the first known appearance in print.
Already in You Get So Alone at Times That It Just Makes Sense* (1986):
- *Someday I'm Going To Write A Primer For Crippled Saints, But Meanwhile" (db #2773)
- "3 A.M. Games" (db #159)
- "You Get So Alone At Times That It Just Makes Sense" (db #4039)
Plus a letter from Bukowski to the magazine — actual correspondence, not a poem.
Photos of pp. 105–112 attached below. Again, I didn't want to risk pages getting loose because of squeezing it onto the scanner, but they're readable.
