I read this poem in Penguin modern Poets 13 (which featured selected works from Bukowski, Norse and Lamantia).

It is my favourite poem and follows the form:

Ask the man who eats eggs for breakfast
Ask the man who puts his head into the mouths of lions
Ask the map of India
Ask the the divine eye so sleek and slimming
Ask asdk ask and they'll all tell you

Yes, but originally collected in Crucifix in a Deathhand, re-collected in Penguin Modern Poets #13, re-re-collected in Burning in Water and Drowning in Flame, and re-re-re-recollected in The Pleasures of the Damned. I actually put this on my wish list for Abel to re-re-re-re-recollect in Essential Bukowski but I guess he must have thought that was ri-ri-ri-ri-ridiculous. :rolleyes:

But it sure is a fine poem.
