a) which writer?

Ok, next question:

What was the name of the guy who wrote the first major essay on Buk?

Bonus points:

A) In what the year did it appear?
B) What was the name of the mag in which it appeared?
C) What was the title of the essay?

You got it right! - And you answered all the bonus point questions too.
- Well done, Bill!

Hello,

OK. Here is an easy one, sort of. Buk was published in many, many magazines.

1) What magazine published the most poems by Bukowski?

Extra credit:

2) What was the name of the editor?
3) What years did they publish Buk?
4) How many issues was Buk in?

Be the first one to get this and get to think up a question!

Bill

Hi,
Is this one really still out there. I forgot thast I posted this question. Is it too hard, or just not a very interesting question?

If this is not answered soon, I'll pass the torch to someone else to ask a question and get this thread rolling again...

Bill

apologies to BOAB. My ISP must have cached this page earlier today....

Hell, I'm just no good at thinking up new questions; so can I please nominate HenryChinaski to think of one for me? :D

Good Idea!

Here goes: Okay, this is a really easy one.

What was the name of Bukowski's cell mate, that he had when he was held in Moyamensing Prison, in Philadelphia?

and also, for imaginary bonus points, what was he know or described as?

Courtney Taylor, described as "Public enemy no. one" by himself (Years later he featured on FBI's "ten most wanted" list). Right?

Ok, this is also an easy one...

Who wrote the poem "You don't know what love is" about Buk?

All I have found so far is a letter from Buk to E. V. Griffith, June 6, 1958 in "Screaming...", where he says that he's thinking about using the title of one of his short stories, "Confessions of a Coward and Man Hater" for the title of his upcoming chapbook. It was eventually called "Flower, Fist and Bestial Wail".
It does'nt say in what year "Confessions..." was actually written, so I'll guess it's 1958, the same year the letter to Griffith was written...

Ok, I think I've got it now. It was published as a new years gift from Black Sparrow in 1995 and deals with his marriage with Barbera Frye. - Right?
(thank you Sounes :))

Shit! - Sounes does'nt mention that...After someone has answered the question, you must tell me where you found that info..
