I wrote for High Times once, a feature about pot growers in the Angeles National Forest. The experience was a nightmare, too many editors with too many diverse and contradictory opinions about what the mag's editorial position is. Buk was lucky to get away from them. I can testify that writing for Hustler isn't a much better experience but at least their editorial stance is clear and concise ... misogyny.

Misogynist indeed. What was up with that ? The women they photographed all looked like prostitutes or rape victims or both. And their genitalia always looked like poisonous tropical plants.

It's an attitude that is ingrained in the editorial staff at LFP. Say what you want about Flynt's so-called fight for amendment rights but the bottom line is that the Flynt empire was built on pure sexual exploitation of the most injurious kind ... and I hurl that stone as someone who spent ten years working in the porn trenches. I can point with pride to my work for Wicked Pictures, AVN, X Biz World, and a small handful of others but the Hustler experience was despicable ... although they pay exceptionally well and my by-lines there helped pull me out of porn and into mainstream journalism for a few years.

Without a doubt. Ferlinghetti is the true pioneer for publishing "Howl" and standing behind it, risking imprisonment. Flynt simply took the argument to the national level via the Supreme Court.

I remember reading High Times in the seventies and being pretty disgusted with Hustler at the same time.

I will say I love the way Larry Flynt talks and would gladly vote him for president.

You sound like the author of "I Have Fun Everywhere I Go". I recently picked it up mainly because it looked so damned interesting.

I haven't really dug into it yet as I am on the last few pages of "Women" but I plan on reading it next.

The author's name escapes me at the moment but you seem to have worked in the same arenas as he.

You ever do any work for wrestling mags? That's the one aspect of the book that holds little appeal for me, but what little I've read so far seems enlightening.
