Here are a couple of advertisements for Open City benefit readings held in Los Angeles and New York to help the paper fight its obscenity charge for publishing Jack Micheline's story "Skinny Dynamite" in the September 26, 1968, issue of Renaissance, A Magazine of the Arts #2. Bukowski edited the issue and was at least partially to blame for the obscenity charge, but he declined to participate in the readings.
