Best Bukowski Biography (1 Viewer)

Hello. I was wondering if someone could tell me what biography on Bukowski is the best one. It's always so interesting to read tales that give some perspective on the man behind the myth -- I read, for example, how he never went to the "rich" high school like he wrote in Ham on Rye, but the one a few blocks from his parent's house. There are a few books on amazon on him, I read some of the I think Cherkovski one from my library -- it's the only one they had -- I've gone through the high and low reviews on amazon, ranging from "great" to "nothing you can't get from reading Bukowski ... or watching Barbet Shroeder".

Does anyone have any ideas?

I read Hank by Neeli, that's the only one I've read. However, I suggest just reading all his own books first, if you haven't already done that. Or watching Born Into This, the documentary readily available on dvd.

"Locked In The Arms of A Crazy Life" by Howard Sounes, I thought very good. Barry Miles' "Charles Bukowski" was as lazy as the title.
