Buk's neighbor has a pulse (1 Viewer)

Old, (sorta). But still going...now living in L.A. This is a good time in the city, great town IMO.

-am wondering if anyone gets together to visit/Put flowers on Bukowski's stone??

Have read all his prose, some poems. Bukowski has kinda become a distant God-uncle for me, I know that might sound Kinda weird...that's ok. Hank and I have things in common.

Cool forum, thanks.

have i read fante?

No, went for the Celine/Genet tour...Have not read Genet's plays eg: The Maids. But will...

Gravitated to non-fiction; James Brown autobiography Hammer Of The Gods, a book about Led Zeppelin. And A book about Zappa; a fascinating musical bad-ass.

Re: Henry Rollins, honestly thought his kick-ass autobiographical book "GET IN THE VAN", was outstanding but have read nothing else from Him. I respect HR.

Anyway...

It is the "main" biography of his life that U'll find in the PL. Lots of personal stuff, a good book.

Explored around east of 101 up around Sunset-hOllywood Blvd; Pretty neat...Some things I enjoy seeing; The occasional super-old weathered (neon) signs...Some of the old (and run down) buildings - great...And the classic "Bukowski-esque" hole in the wall dive bars, really cool.

Ah, "The Real Frank Zappa Book", by Zappa and Peter Occhiogrosso! I've got that book (together with 50+ Zappa albums) and it's a great read. Zappa rules!

You're always welcome to drop by, Gerard! - Socialism? Not here. We've had a right-wing government for the last 8 years. We do have free health care, free education and so on, but that's not socialism, that's just how a welfare state operates. Even the right-wingers wants to preserve it! Beyond that, it's capitalism gone wild like in the US, with bail-out money for the banks and what not. :(
