Hi there I joined because I have a very serious Q

Hi everyone long time reader but something that's been bothering me so much that I need to know is, When Bukoski says "Scotch and water" was his drink a Scotch with water on the side, a Scotch with water added to dilute it, or a "1 and 1' like a vodka soda or gin and tonic. I need to try it lol

When he says "Scotch and water," he’s typically referring to Scotch with water added to it, often to dilute it. This is a common way to drink Scotch, as a little water can release additional flavors and aromas in the whisky. It wouldn't be "Scotch with water on the side" or a "1 and 1" in the sense of a highball like a vodka soda or gin and tonic. Instead, it’s more about adding just a splash or a small amount of water directly to the Scotch.

"When I drink, the world is still out there, but at least for a little while it doesn’t have me by the throat." - Bukowski, Ham on Rye
