List of Bukowski's works (2 Viewers)

I was hoping to find a comprehensive list of Charles Bukowski's work. Can anyone point me in the right direction? If there isn't such a list or if I have missed something obvious can someone let me know, I've been looking for most of today for one called 'Dorbin's Bibliography' but I havn't found it :( .

Laurie,

Dorbin's book covers up to 1969 only and it's a collector's item, so expect really high prices.
You're gonna need Aaron K's book, but it's hardcover and kind of hard-to-find, so it's not cheap either.

The best place is this forum. Just ask!

i'm sure either mjp or cirerita could list it all if they somehow found the time. i know mjp's really busy but i'm sure if you ask him nicely, he will oblige you.

Maybe when the new database is finished, a blank or wild card search could produce such a list... but then again, maybe the server will just implode...

A list of every work? Some list :D

The new database lists 4,150 works, but I suspect I'll find that some of those are duplicates by the time I'm finished.

A wildcard query that would list everything would work, I guess, but be rather database intensive...why do you want a comprehensive list of his works anyway? That's a damn long list, brother.

It was just a matter of interest, I really meant a list of publications rather than works. Surely that would be a shorter list? I didn't realise how big his output was as a writer. I'm working my way through a couple of his books at the moment and really enjoying them and I couldn't get a measure for how many books he had. The library and the local bookshops don't stock many - just Factotum and Post Office - both of which I bought there and then. I'm really interested in his poetry but thats damn near impossible to find in shops.

Thanks for all your time

Laurie

If it's just a list of publications you're looking for, hit the "search by book" or "search the magazine listings" links on the main database page.

4,150 works only? didn't the old database have almost 6,000 entries? there were too many duplicates?
5599 entries. But that was only because the database wasn't designed properly. Everything is in one table, so a poem printed in five places has five entries.

In the new database, works are in one table, magazines in another, books in another, etc. Then you have separate tables for the relations between the works and where they appeared. Nine tables all together compared to one now.

Yawn.

Put simply, the new database will be more accurate, and work like a database should. I didn't know shit about databases when I started that thing. I still don't know shit, but I know a little more. Enough to really fuck it up. ;)

not sure how comprehensive it is...i'm not even really sure where I came across this exactly. Theres a few titles I haven't even heard of.

Hope it's of some help though.

Looks like the list from wikipedia. I tried to put it in chronological order a couple of times, but they keep changing it back.

This ones in chronological order - haven't checked its completeness though, but gives a bit more info... guess its just their collection (University of South Carolina) - might even be my own wishlist ;) some rarities listed certainly.

From 20 Tanks from Kasseldown (Portfolio III, 1946) to Beerspit Night and Cursing (Black Sparrow, 2001)
