Targets 11 -- Two Uncollected, One First Appearance (1 Viewer)

It doesn't get much better than two early uncollected.

I particularly love Bukowski's 1962 reference to a 1998 Cadillac in "Out of It". That would have been a great 1998 New Years greeting.

("Counsel" made it into It Catches... and Penguin and Roominghouse.)

Wow, that's early. Great stuff.

Very interesting, thx for sharing.

In "Counsel" you can feel a heavy Jeffers influence (imo).

Does anyone know anything about the magazine itself? Did Buk appear more?

[zobraks]

Oh, yes.
I know that A Signature of Charles Bukowski Poetry (Signature 1) was published in December 1960 in Targets 4, and Signature 2 came out in Targets 7 (September 1961).

W.L. Garner was the editor & publisher of Targets (a quarterly of modern poetry), and Lloyd Alpaugh was the coeditor.
Also, check this thread.

Thanks Zobraks. Looking in Abel Debritto's biblio it seems that Targets was a regular for Buk in this period.
And seeing his letter to the editors, a real bonus. It should be in a brand new volume of Buk letters. It is about time.
Thanks for posting it.

This is the best source of the Bukowski special issue. (I reluctantly post this since I have two copies for sale -- it's rare)
To ruin the ending, it actually was a real thing: Bukowski signed Al Fogel's copy.
