This might be a random question, but I can't help ponder where all the money is going or has gone in the sale of the official and unofficial Bukowski material? I am still trying to track down an affordable 1st edition of Factotum -- not the British version -- and when I look at some of the specialist book-seller prices, I can't help wonder where the book came from?, how much it was sold for?, and how come someone's not keeping track of all this? Also, what about Bukowski's daughter (I assume she's still alive). Does she have no claim at all? (Am I right in thinking he didn't leave anything to her in his will?) Apologies if I'm posting random stuff but I'd love to know if anyone knows the detail. Thanks.

Usually wrong.
Original first editions aren't being sold by the estate. They are in the hands of collectors and dealers, and sold privately through catalogs, auctions, rare book conventions, etc. Bukowski's daughter Marina is still alive, as is his widow, Linda Lee Beighle. The estate gets the royalties from new printings of his books. I've heard different versions of how much Marina got through the will. One story says she didn't get much, but I don't know if that's true. Bukowski's manuscripts went to the Huntington Library -- Linda Lee generously donated them.

I wish more donated to Universities. They become available to the public, and it prevents some from selling things already online for hundreds of dollars.
