The Lion, Oui April 1984 (1 Viewer)

I was rummaging through my magazines in search of a Robert Crumb article and found "The Lion"--don't think it is in database or posted anywhere unless I looked in the wrong places. A riff on Hemingway obviously...

Thank you for posting this, David.

If you by any chance have July 1984 and July 1985 issues of Oui, would you be so kind as to check which Buk stories had been published in those.

Thanks David. I didn't find a match in a text search so it's probably not collected. It's in the database now.

I took some time to flesh out (pun intended) the database as far as the Oui appearances go.

Added a lot of issues, and a couple of stories to the database, "The Misunderstanding Universe," May 1985 (probably "The Unaccommodating Universe" in Betting on the Muse), and "The Action" August 1985 (probably "Action" in Septuagenarian Stew). But until we can compare they are added as new titles.

In the database now:

Oui - Vol. 13, No. 1 - January - 1984
Oui - Vol. 13, No. 3 - March - 1984
Oui - Vol. 13, No. 4 - April - 1984
Oui - Vol. 13, No. 5 - May - 1984
Oui - Vol. 13, No. 6 - June - 1984
Oui - Vol. 13, No. 7 - July - 1984
Oui - Vol. 13, No. 8 - August - 1984
Oui - Vol. 13, No. 9 - September - 1984
Oui - Vol. 13, No. 10 - October - 1984
Oui - Vol. 13, No. 11 - November - 1984
Oui - Vol. 13, No. 12 - December - 1984
Oui - Vol. 14, No. 1 - January - 1985
Oui - Vol. 14, No. 2 - February - 1985
Oui - Vol. 14, No. 3 - March - 1985
Oui - Vol. 14, No. 4 - April - 1985
Oui - Vol. 14, No. 5 - May - 1985
Oui - Vol. 14, No. 8 - June - 1985
Oui - Vol. 14, No. 8 - August - 1985
Oui - Vol. 14, No. 9 - September - 1985

The still missing links:
  • February 1984, I found a few listings and none mention Bukowski, so maybe he's not in this one? Has another writer's name on the cover, Dan Greenburg.
  • July 1985, cover says, "Bukowski on Bums," so that could be about a hundred different stories.

My money is on Vengeance of the Damned from Septuagenarian Stew.

I would also like to fill a few gaps:

Oui (March 1985)
“The Ladies Man of East Hollywood” (second part) [collected in Absence of the Hero]

Oui (April 1985)
"A Dirty Trick on God" [collected in The Bell Tolls for No One]
