A Bukowski Puzzle... (1 Viewer)

At the Half Price book store yesterday, I found a book titled Drinking with Bukowski: Recollections of the Poet Laureate of Skid Row. It was $7.99. On the title page was a handwritten inscription which read, "To Chuck-It wasn't a headlock, it was a half-nelson and I could've broken out if I'd wanted to.
Your friend, Charles Bukowski". Now the book was copywritten 2000 and Bukowski was dead. So we are assuming this was some type of private joke, but even so.... What do you think? I put a photo of the title page on Facebook.

You answered your own question:

Even if the book had been published when Bukowski was alive, the writing and the signature are both all wrong.
