This film was made in 2006, but I think just recently made it to DVD in the States. It's in B&W, filmed in northern Iran and is part comedy and part tale of betrayal. It's very touching in parts and a little shocking in others, and everything is beautifully photographed.
The director, Saman Salur, is kind of like the Coen Brothers Iranian cousin, with a little more heart and a little less schtick.
