this girl's column about the porn industry is pretty funny (she writes DVD reviews and stories for magazines), and her newest column is all about bukowski. it's a really well-written article about buk, especially since most people that write about him after only being casually familiar with his work miss the point entirely.

Maybe the thing that Bukowski was really saying wasn't that there's no hope in reality, but rather that the parts of reality that we try to ignore because they are less perfect-looking are the ones most full of the magic we forget to see...

That was pretty spot on...she kinda sounds a little weary of the industry. I wouldn't blame her though. I think if I worked in the porn business I would go home each night with a headache. All the swinging fake breasts, glowing fake tan, fake orgasms, fake everything. Ergh - it's like being in a x-rated world of Barbie and Ken's endlessly humping each other.

On some of my cable stations they have soft porn movies sometimes which I think is even worse because it's simulated sex and so choreographed it's like watching ice skating!
