Bukowski Transgender feelings? (1 Viewer)

Whats up with this from South of no North?

"I remember jacking-off in the closet after putting on my mother’s high-heels and looking at my legs in the mirror, slowly drawing a cloth up over my legs, higher and higher as if peeking up the legs of a woman, and being interrupted by two friends coming into the house—“I know he’s in here somewhere.” My self putting on clothes and then one of them opening the closet door and finding me. “You son of a bitch!” I screamed and chased them both out of the house and heard them talking as they walked away: “What’s wrong with him? What the hell’s wrong with him?”

It's similar to a scene in Ham on Rye, except in the book the crossdressing is edited out.

And then in Linda King's book she writes about how he would threaten and admit to "sucking and fucking pretty gay boys" he'd pick up near Griffith Park, and she speculated that his behavior made him seem like he was a "woman in a previous life"...

wtf

Let me put that scene into better context. Instead of viewing it through the 21st century lens, let us revisit the era Buk was writing about. It was the 1920s when Hank was growing up. There was no wall-to-wall pornography with loose gaping holes everywhere one looked. There wasn't even glossy full color mags then. Thusly, the high heel shoe of a woman could hold endless sexual fascination for a pre-pubescent Hank Chinaski. Nothing more.

Buk wrote a lot about sex. Similar to many other people on the earth, he liked sex and had sexual fantasies. Why is his fascination with sex/fantasy surprising to you? Are you some kind of stuffy repressed Jesus freak or something? What are you doing on a Bukowski forum? You must not be very familiar with his work.

Maybe I'm thinking of a memoir, but I vaguely remember something in the Sounes bio where he said something to her (in a letter?) during an argument about how he "wanted to have fun too so he picked some guy up on his way home" that she wasn't sure what exactly he meant by. Not that it much matters what he meant by it and if someone wrote a book about me and asked my exes about things I said during our quarrels I'm sure it'd be loaded with glowing anecdotes and witty quotes. My favorite is the story (In Notes?) about how he got so drunk he mistook someone staying at his apartment for his girlfriend and how the dude wouldn't leave for like a week afterwards, that was a good laugh for sure Not that this is relevant to anything, I'm just ignoring my duties at work and abusing my internet access like the model employee I've always dreamt of being. I don't have a photo of my girlfriend or mother in my cubicle but there is one of my dog and Charles Bukowski. Excuse me while I abscond to commence the good ol' suck n fuck! Yee Haw....

Before anyone asks (not assuming that this is interesting enough to warrant responses...just saying): the photo is on the cover of pleasures of the damned but its not like the book is worth much used as reading material so it just stands on a little shelf with the disapproving cover photo. But "one man can't be expected to justify hell forever".

i remember that one. i think there was also one, i think in notes as well, where he went into an orgy room and he was looking at some chick when a guy came up and started trying to bang him in the ass i think. its been awhile since i read that one

Yeah, I think in that one he went into the bathroom and was taking a shit while two dudes were shaving each other's genitals in the bathtub. Pretty sure it said how his turds hit the water..funny shit. Pun intended.

It blows my mind that the people I know say his writing is depressing. Even when it is there is usually some humorous bit to it. My girlfriend calls him "Bu Kakka" and has said in multiple occasions how she gets tired of hearing about that "horrible old man". If it wasn't for the words he put down my life would be 100% less enjoyable. From the bios I've read, which from what I know is all of them, he seems like he could be an asshole and would probably have not liked me personally. But just because I relate so much with his writing doesn't mean he'd have owed me anything. But it's the words that make my life better, especially when things get fucked up, rather than what I've read outside of his personality or "colorful lifestyle" that I love. But its certainly awarding, to me, learning about his personal life as much as I can. Mostly because his writings have ran out to be explored. But I've read all of his novels and collections of stories several times over in the past 2 years. I'm positive theres poems I haven't seen but this forum seems to provide them at a satisfactory rate. I use to read a ton and after diving into Bukowski Ice read more, other literature like crazy as well, than I have in 10 years. And since I read so many of his contemporaries in high school it's so crazy to me it took me so long to find his stuff. For all I care he could have been a cross dressing kangaroo that banged baby pigeons. His writing has enriched my life more than I can Express. He really is an immortal. Any differing opinions be damned!!!

Forgive the typos I've discovered sour ale. Other than the increase in TUMS it is an angelic device out of nowhere blowing smoke up through my floorboards. Try it if that's your thing.

I think this story is probably the most honest piece of work that I've ever read about pre-teenage male puberty. I would question any male who said they didn't have some kind of sexual confusion at that age. By the way, the "legs thing" would be the biggest turn on as an adult -- and let's keep in mind he wrote this as an adult.

What do you mean "what's up" with it? What's up with you? You seem overly concerned.
you posted the question, idiot!
wtf indeed...
There see. You all called me crazy, but now the defacto president of Bukowski's fan club, "MJP" or "Hannah" turned out to be an autogynephilic transexual!!! HA!! HAAAAA!!!!

There IS some weird link between bukowski and transgenderism and I am somewhat determined to figure out what the hells going on.

Maybe it's the way his writings go on and on about stockings and dresses and wine, I dont know. Frankly I dont want to know. I wouldnt be surprised if it turns out that there is some massive fraud going on.

I submit that CHARLES BUKOWSKI is a reverse pen name of sorts. Maybe that old man in all the pictures is the father of some woman who wrote everything. all that sensual writing., a womans musings on what it's like to be a man. I've been fooled this this whole time, by all of it! tricked by an expert manipulative sham by some woman! Wouldn't surprise me at this point. Nothing would. You know, Ernest Hemingway's son wanted to be a woman too, and what did Papa Hemingway say when he caught the little nancy boy? "we belong to a strange tribe". All the same.

autogynephilic
thanks for making me aware of an English word I didn't know.

Of course it all is a huge conspiracy.
Bukowski tortured little children in caves to swallow their blood and invented Covid to establish a worldwide dictatorship of horse-racing.

But why did you have to come out with these facts, after we've bought you a villa in Malibu? You promised to keep it under the blanket, that Bukowski was a puppet directed by Freemasons and other reptiles. Is this how you thank us?

Even our most important secret is reveiled now. You're a true investigator.
We never thought that anyone could connect the numeric values of the letters of HIS name to their equivalent in ancient Sanscrit to match them with Egyptian Hieroglyphes and find out that their complex structure points directly to an engraving of "Mine Kamph" in the rocks of Nazcar.

We are uncovered.
And of course: You're NOT a troll.

have you ever considered a career in "fan fiction?"

i don't think anyone's thinking the possibility of bukowski being a latent cross dresser etc is so crazy it's the way you sound saying it.

crazy, that is. entertaining, but crazy...

Ahh, the joys of online anonymity. Thank you for your courage. Very moving.
