Just look at poets, who [...] frustrate themselves with structural constraints. Unless poets are stumped by the form, unless they are forced to look beyond the obvious associations, they'll never invent an original line. [...] And this is why poetic forms are so important.
 
It sounds a bit contradictory. I wonder if the article is part of Lehrer's ad for his book since both are on the same page.:wb:
