The only line I seem to remember had something to do with "spare me your broken families" or family trees or "mixed families" ... I really can't recall much more than that, just know it's the one I'm looking for. :confused:
 
Maybe it's from the poem "Red"?

he runs a bookstore
just off Hollywood Boulevard
and all that part of Hollywood
is just about skid row,
the young boy prostitutes
running the streets at night;
the hard young girls, the blacks,
the disoriented children from
ruined families
, they are
frightened, mean, helpless and
dumb and
all that's left of that part of
town is
Musso's and Frederick's of
Hollywood.

I believe it was a semi-holier-than-thou ranting about other people that have already ruined their lives with their choices trying to integrate his life with theirs. Not sure how much that helps...
